HUNTER: Ghislaine Maxwell breaks silence on jail, food, sex trafficking
Disgraced socialite Ghislaine Maxwell has always been an enigma wrapped in a riddle.
Whispers, innuendo and proclamations of victimhood by her proxies aside, the 59-year-old British publishing heiress has kept her own counsel after being arrested in July 2020 on sex trafficking charges.
Until now. The secretive brunette — often described in media accounts as pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged “pimp” — has finally broken her silence in an explosive interview with Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper.
Jury selection in her sex trafficking trial begins Monday.
“I have been assaulted and abused for almost a year and a half,” Maxwell told the Mail. “I have not had a nutritious meal in all that time. I haven’t slept without lights on — fluorescent lights that have damaged my eyes — or been allowed to sleep without constant interruptions.
“I am weak; I am frail; I have no stamina. I am tired. I don’t even have shoes which fit properly. They feed me rotten food. One apple had maggots in it. I have not been allowed to exercise.”
Well, let’s dial it back a bit here, hmmmm?
Maxwell is the daughter of disgraced publishing baron Robert Maxwell. After his billion-dollar crimes were revealed, his daughter fled to New York City where she reinvented herself as the belle of the ball.
Her benefactor was mysterious hedge fund manager Jeffrey Epstein. Now, authorities and scores of Epstein victims claim Maxwell was his facilitator for underage sex with girls as young as 14, allegedly moving them around like pieces on a perverted chess board.
