Armed robbery suspect shot and killed by Surrey RCMP
An independent investigation has been launched after a robbery suspect was shot and killed by police in Surrey.
Mounties were at a motel in the 13900-block of 104th Avenue on Wednesday night after being called about a distraught person.
When they got to the motel, however, police were told an armed robbery had just been committed, according to separate statements from Surrey RCMP and the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO).
The IIO said the officers spotted two men leaving the area and went after them.
“It is reported that the officers followed and during the arrest of one of the men, there was an interaction and shots were fired,” said the IIO.
