B.C. Lego master recreates landmark West Coast Modern homes brick by brick

Paul Hetherington has built Lego versions of Atlantis, the Nautilus submarine from the movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the famed 1968 Elvis Presley comeback TV special.

Now the North Vancouver artist is doing something closer to home: Lego versions of seven West Coast Modern homes, and one apartment block.

His Lego Modern collection includes homes by architects and builders like Arthur Erickson, Fred Hollingsworth, Paul Merrick, B.C. Binning and Bob Lewis.

But for many Vancouverites, the showstopper might be his Lego version of the Villa Maris, a 1966 waterfront apartment block popularly known as the Pink Palace.

It’s called the Pink Palace because it is, in fact, pink.
