B.C. mother of man who died after encounter with Surrey escort wants justice

A B.C. mother whose adult son was found dead in his Surrey home after a visit from an escort says she is relieved that charges have now been laid in the case.

The mother, who asked that her name not be used, said her family has been devastated by the loss of her son, a successful businessman killed in February 2021.

Vancouver escort Jessica Kane was charged this week with manslaughter in the man’s death. And Kane, 30, is facing additional charges of drugging and robbing several others across the Lower Mainland over 18 months.

She appeared in Surrey Provincial Court on Thursday and was released Friday on 14 conditions, as well as $50,000 bail. She is not allowed to contact any of her alleged victims.

The mother of the man who died said Friday that Kane’s release is “a tragedy”.
