Canucks add defenceman Filip Hronek from Detroit Red Wings

The Vancouver Canucks have acquired another new face, trading with the Detroit Red Wings for defenceman Filip Hronek.

Detroit is also sending their fourth-round pick in this year’s draft to Vancouver.

The Canucks sent the conditional first round pick acquired in January from the New York Islanders in the Bo Horvat trade to Detroit, along with their second-round pick in this year’s draft.

Hronek, 25, is a solid defenceman with a hard shot. He’s a handy player on the power play — but power play time will be limited in Vancouver, given Quinn Hughes.

Hronek suffered an upper-body injury during Tuesday’s Red WIngs game, a 6-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators.
