Canucks: Bruce Boudreau’s final message to Elias Pettersson?
If it all comes to an end for Bruce Boudreau this weekend, he’s made sure to deliver a strong, final message to the Vancouver Canucks’ best player.
The veteran head coach tried to approach Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers like any other, but there’s no denying he knows the elephant in the room, that Canucks management appears set to move on from him and replace him with Rick Tocchet.
“It’s just another game,” he joked to reporters Saturday morning, before declining to elaborate on what was likely his final message to the team he took over 13 months ago.
“It’s better than crying,” he quipped about the joke, referencing Friday’s morning skate, when he was nearly brought to tears after being asked about how special coaching in the NHL is, a question he was unable to answer in the moment.
But he did also say that he took the time to speak with Elias Pettersson, something he’s made a regular habit of.
