Chameleon: Wild Boys podcast earns top honours at Ambies Awards
Chameleon: Wild Boys the podcast about the infamous Bush Boys/Wild Boys of Vernon has won Podcast of the Year at the Ambies Awards, the annual awards that recognize excellence in audio.
The Podcast Academy, a group of 1,000-plus industry creators and executives, awarded Campside Media and Sony Music Entertainment’s Chameleon: Wild Boys the top prize at the awards ceremony hosted by comedian and writer Larry Wilmore in Las Vegas on March 9.
“This has been so surreal. When you embark on a creative project like this, there’s a spectrum of how well it can go, and the spectrum I had in my mind did not include the possibility of winning podcast of the year,” said writer/host Sam Mullins in an email.
“It feels like a miracle, to win the biggest honor in podcasting considering where I started from – as a person who had never made a podcast before, it’s incredible.”
Wild Boys uncovers the story of two young men who claimed to have been raised in the wilderness near Revelstoke and then travelled into Vernon where they were able to convince a lot of locals of their wild story.
