Family heads to the ends of the earth in search of true wildness

In 2014, the Vannini family (Phillip, April and nine-year-old daughter Autumn) said goodbye to Gabriola Island and set off on a journey that took them to 10 countries and 20 Natural World Heritage Sites. Their purpose was to find the meaning of wild.

Their journeys on five continents are documented in their book and documentary film: In the Name of Wild: One Family, Five Years, Ten Countries and a New Vision of Wildness.

The family took time to answer some questions from Postmedia News about the book and our understanding of wildness:

Q: How did you and your family define wildness before the trip, and did it change upon completion of your travels?
