Health Canada issues warning over potentially flammable Helly Hansen sweaters and hoodies

Health Canada on Wednesday issued a recall notice for more than 120,000 Helly Hansen winter sweaters and hoodies that were sold in Canada between August 2019 and 2022.

According to Health Canada, owners should immediately stop using the clothing items and contact Helly Hansen at 1-888-889-9096 for a product replacement credit due to “flammability hazard.”

“The affected products, which incorporate brushed cotton fabrics that have undergone a specific treatment, either do not or may not comply with the Textile Flammability Regulations,” the health agency reported.

As of Jan. 9, 2023 there have been no reports of incidents or injuries in connection with the affected products in Canada.

The notice affects 27 versions of the sweatshirt, hoodie and jackets.
