It’s time to have B.C. wines available in Vancouver grocery stores: councillor
Vancouverites may soon be able to buy wine at select local grocers.
City councillor Mike Klassen has put forward a motion to council asking the city to allow the sales of British Columbia wines on grocery store shelves.
“The city is ready,” said Klassen on Thursday.
In 2015, B.C. government’s Liquor Control and Licensing Branch amended its policies to allow wine on grocery shelves in 2015 under two models: wine on the shelf, or a store within a store.
However, Vancouver voted to reject on-the-shelf sales in 2018, and allow only the “store-within-a-store” model. The model hasn’t really taken off.
