Louise Bentall Award for emerging B.C. choreographers announced
Emerging B.C. choreographers have a new award to financially support their research, development and production of new work.
The Louise Bentall Award created in memory of the late DanceHouse board member is a $10,000 biennial award which honours her tireless work with dance and theatre organisations as well as advancing the Vancouver dance community.
The Hawthorne Foundation will provide ongoing funding for the award with DanceHouse handling administrative support. The juried award will include a panel of dance professionals. Selection criteria for the award were developed by an advisory panel including Bentall’s daughters Carly Bentall and Erin Cayley Ross as well as Norman Armour, Serge Bennathan, Fran Brafman, Katrina Dunn, Cornelius Fischer-Credo, and Laurie-Ann Goodwin. Applications are considered on criteria including overall presentation, innovation and creative vision of the artist’s involved.
