Louise Burns is happy in her new Element
On Element, Louise Burns delivers a love letter to the pop sounds of the 1980s.
A clear indication of where the globe-trotting Vancouver musician and producer was taking her fifth full-length album came through with the first single, See You.
A remake of the Depeche Mode track featured on 1982’s A Broken Frame, the bouncy song followed the more electro-pop sounds of 2019’s well-reviewed Portraits. Set for release on Light Organ Records on April 21, the recording sessions took place in Los Angeles following two and a half years of writing in Vancouver and Mexico.
Burns and Actors singer Jason Corbett co-produced the album at Jacknife Studios in Vancouver. Longtime collaborator Darcy Hancock added tasty guitar work and nêhiyawak’s Matthew Cardinal layered on the slinky synths for the title track.
