Man whose foot was found floating in Yellowstone pool left poems and $447 in cash
A man whose partial foot was discovered floating in a hot spring in Yellowstone National Park didn’t leave a suicide note, although investigators have found personal effects in his car including handwritten poems, a laptop and US$447 in cash.
U.S. National Park Services have published details of their investigation into the death of Il Hun Ro, 70, but how he died still remains a mystery.
Last summer, a park visitor spotted Il’s shoe, with his foot still inside, in the Abyss Pool in the southern area of the park, a 16-meter-deep hot spring that reaches temperatures of 60° C.
Investigators were able to identify the remains through DNA analysis, according to a park ranger’s report released last month.
The document does not indicate any other remains were found, but mentions possible “fatty tissues” were seen floating in the pool. Earlier that week, a ranger had found two shoe soles floating on the pool.
