Model TRANSformation takes moviegoers inside a journey to the true self

Krow Kian asked photo and fashion producer Gina Hole Lazarowich to help produce a photoshoot that would close the door on Kian’s career as a female fashion model.

The plan was, after that shoot, the Vancouver model would begin transitioning from female to male.

“As I thought about it overnight, I went back to Krow and his mother Lisa and I said this is just such an amazing story it should be documented,” said Hole Lazarowich, who knew Kian, a veteran model working since age 12, from previous projects. “I asked them what do you think about me producing a documentary?”

They expressed concern about Kian’s personal safety being jeopardized if the transition story were to be at the centre of a film.

“The first reaction was definitely hesitation because both me and my mom were definitely worried,” said Kian, 27, who is also a background actor in TV and film. “Exposing myself as being openly trans could potentially lead to people being angry and looking for trouble.”
