Now hear this: Logan Staats wins SOCAN Foundation TD Indigenous Songwriter Award
Hailing from the Six Nations of the Grand River and now based on Vancouver Island, singer/songwriter Logan Staats is the 2023 recipient of the SOCAN Foundation’s TD Indigenous Songwriter Award.
Staats is already well known for both his raw, rootsy single Deadman and his 2018 winning turn on the music competition show, The Launch. That lead to him spending time in both Nashville and Los Angeles and the single, the Lucky Ones charting Top 10 in Canada. The track also collected the Indigenous music award for best radio single that year.
The Mohawk artist’s latest video posted on his website is titled Folk Song.
