RCMP called out after security incident on Flair flight landing at YVR

Some airline passengers arriving in Vancouver from Edmonton Friday had a lengthy wait on the tarmac after an apparent security issue on board.

Vancouver International Airport officials say the RCMP were called out to “a security incident” involving a Flair Airlines flight from Edmonton. YVR and RCMP have not yet provided any details about what happened.

Flair Flight 2799 arrived at the airport in Richmond at 11:44 p.m. from Edmonton, according to a YVR statement.

The aircraft was held on the taxiway until approximately 1 a.m. while the RCMP investigated. There are no reports of any injuries.

The plane was then cleared to gate, RCMP met the aircraft, and cleared passengers for deplaning at approximately 2:15 a.m., YVR said.
