Save the date: Arts Club Theatre Company announces 60th anniversary season
A First Nations spin on a 15th Century French classic, the tale of the first Black actor to play Othello in London and the Canadian premiere of a psychedelic journey into the world of music’s power and family ties are all part of the Arts Club Theatre Company’s 60th anniversary season.
Coming out of the considerable challenges that COVID-19 placed upon operations, Western Canada’s largest non-profit theatre organization is excited to be returning to a full compliment of performances incorporating all of its venues.
“We have all three theatres up and running for the first time since last November, and that is a welcome return to normal for us,” said executive director Peter Cathie White. “When we first came back, we only programmed at the Stanley in case we did have to readjust our schedule, and we did have to, but nothing got cancelled and all five productions went off. Now (artistic director) Ashlie has really been able to program a full variety of work at all three venues — The Stanley, Granville Island and the Newmont Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre.”
