Save the date: Vancouver Folk Music Festival announces 2023 lineup — and it’s a winner
After almost being cancelled earlier this year, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival has announced its 2023 lineup, and festival No. 46 looks to be a winner.
The event will take place July 14-16 at Jericho Beach Park, with early bird tickets (starting at $135) on sale until June 5 at 5 p.m. at thefestival.bc.ca. Note: All sales are final with no refunds and the event will take place rain or shine.
That shouldn’t be a problem for festival veterans used to spending all day and night on the site. This year, they’ll be able to hear artists ranging from multiple Juno Award winners, such as Jim Byrnes and Steve Dawson, to rising local stars, such as singer Krystle dos Santos, and the return of festival fave Samantha Parton, formerly of the Be Good Tanyas.
Always a place to discover new sounds from around the globe, the folk festival will also include Cameroonian/French singer/songwriter Blick Bassy, Iranian master musician Kayhan Kahlor and his trio, East L.A. latinx fusion activists Las Cafeteras and Grammy-nominated Black LGBTQIA2s+ roots artist Amythyst Kiah.
More acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with information posted at the festival website.
