Vancouver airport border agents seize arsenal of prohibited weapons inbound from China
A Chilliwack resident has been arrested after the Canada Border Services Agency linked him to an arsenal of prohibited weapons, some of which were seized at the Vancouver International Airport inbound from China.
According to the CBSA, in early January 2023 agents from CBSA Commercial Operations at the Vancouver International Airport intercepted several parcels containing large numbers of prohibited weapons that were destined for addresses in Chilliwack. The parcels had allegedly been imported from China using a false declaration.
The case was then referred to the CBSA Pacific Region Criminal Investigations team.
On Jan. 25, CBSA investigators arrested a Chilliwack resident for suspected offences under the Customs Act and Criminal Code of Canada — claiming that a number of prohibited weapons and firearms were also found during the arrest.
The following day, CBSA investigators executed a search warrant at a Chilliwack home, where more prohibited weapons were allegedly seized.
