Vancouverite nominated for Oscar in visual effects category
On Sunday night, Bryan Litson will walk the Oscars red carpet alongside the likes of James Cameron, Steven Spielberg and Hollywood’s biggest stars.
The 40-year-old from Vancouver will sit in the Dolby Theatre and listen for his name among the nominees for best visual effects. He’ll wait as the celebrity presenter opens the red envelope to discover if he’ll bring home an Academy Award for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, the blockbuster starring Tom Cruise.
“It’s exciting,” Litson told Postmedia News Saturday, speaking from the Vancouver International Airport moments before his flight to Los Angeles.
“For the most part, it’s a once in a lifetime thing, you know? I don’t think it happens too often to people, unless you’re Meryl Streep.”
When he first learned he and fellow visual effects artists Ryan Tudhope, Seth Hill and Scott R. Fisher were nominated, Litson was in disbelief.
