VICTORIA — The New Democrats spent the week on the defensive in the legislature, after another round of horror stories on the public safety file.

In Vancouver, early on a Sunday evening, a young father is stabbed to death in front of his family at a downtown coffee shop.

In the provincial capital, an assailant stabs one person, then robs and assaults three others at knife point in a series of daylight attacks.

In Abbotsford, a prolific offender is arrested in possession of one stolen vehicle, released, and 24 hours later, caught in possession of another stolen vehicle.

In Nanaimo, a young woman is grabbed and sexually assaulted by a prolific offender. When she manages to break free and run, he chases after, threatening to kill her.
