VSO opens its 104th season with pianist Stewart Goodyear
Where: Orpheum Theatre
Soloist Khatia Buniatishvilli was originally scheduled to perform, but was unable to travel to Vancouver at this time. Fortunately, Goodyear was available hot on the heels of of his acclaimed performance of the piece at the Kennedy Centre for the Arts this June. The Washington Post noted Goodyear’s “incisive attack of Tchaikovsky’s 1874 concerto made for one of the most memorable performances of it I’ve ever seen.”
There will also be a Sunday performance of the composition as part of the RGF Integrated Wealth Management Symphony Sundays Series. If you want to see more of Stewart Goodyear, he is also performing his own arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s complete Nutcracker ballet for solo piano at Music in the Morning on December 13-17.
