YVR Screen Scene for Ukraine fundraising gala returns with Ukrainian film Viddana
YVR Screen Scene for Ukraine will be returning for a second year.
Taking place at VIFF Centre on March 29 at 6:30 p.m., YVR Screen Scene for Ukraine will again be hosted by Ukrainian Canadian actor Adrian Petriw and Sabrina Rani Furminger, who is the host and executive producer of the YVR Screen Scene Podcast and is Ukrainian and Indian Canadian.
The gala event will feature live music, craft items for sale, and a post-screening reception with Ukrainian food. Last year’s event raised more than $37,000 for Ukrainian humanitarian relief.
“Paradoxically, as horrendous as this year has been, my family has grown by 44 million people, and I’ve never been more proud to be Ukrainian. I can only imagine how it will feel on the day of victory,” said Petriw in an email. “I think I speak for all of us when I say that the longer this war lasts, the harder we fight. Our goal with this year’s YVR Screen Scene for Ukraine is to far surpass what we raised last year, which was already such an achievement.”
