Watch: Electric scooter crashes into Tesla and takes off in Vancouver
A collision involving an electric scooter and a parked Tesla was caught on camera on the streets of Vancouver and is now making its way around the Internet via the subreddit /IdiotsInCars.
The original poster (OP), who spoke to Daily Hive using the name Mr.K, uploaded the video clip under the title “Not exactly a car but an idiot nonetheless.” The collision took place on Sept. 11 around 7:20 p.m. near Mackenzie Street and 37th Avenue in the B.C. centre, and the video shows a rider on a yellow e-scooter approaching from down the street, apparently distracted by something on the other side of the road, and ramming into the back and side of the stationary and unoccupied Tesla.
The rider takes a tumble and can be seen wiping blood from his mouth with the back of his hand, perhaps probing for dental damage, before picking himself up, dusting off, and then grabbing the scooter and exiting the frame.
The OP says he discovered the damage on the car and checked the video, only to see that the man “just left the scene…no note or anything.” But the car was badly damaged, as seen in the images on Daily Hive. In fact, Mr. K told DH that the body shop he took the car to estimated that “repairs on their end would cost around $10,000 and probably another $3,000-4,000 for the car to be re-wrapped.” Ouch.
