B.C. dad recovering after being stabbed in the heart while responding to cries for help
A young father is recovering after being stabbed in Campbell River, B.C., while responding to cries for help, his family says.
According to a GoFundMe campaign initiated by Colin Dube-Wheat’s family, the 21-year-old was walking home during the early morning hours of Friday, July 14 when he “heard someone yelling for help.”
When Dube-Wheat responded and walked over, “an individual beside an unconscious person” allegedly stabbed him twice, puncturing his lung and heart, according to the online fundraising site.
The attacker allegedly fled the scene and Dube-Wheat was left lying alone for a period of time until first responders arrived and he was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital.
