Crews search for missing teenager at Golden Ears Park
Crews are searching for a missing teenager in Golden Ears Park, one of B.C.’s largest parks located in Maple Ridge.
RCMP say 16-year-old Esther Wang went hiking Tuesday morning with a group of four people on a trail in Golden Ears Park as part of a youth activity.
They hiked the East Canyon Trail to Steve’s Lookout. The group left the lookout at approximately 2:45 p.m. to head back to their campground, according to RCMP.
About 15 minutes from the viewpoint on the return to their campsite, the group leader became aware that Wang had been separated from the group.
Police say the group returned to the top of the viewpoint to find her but could not. The leader searched the entrance of the trail and asked a park ranger to contact police.
