Kamloops realtor got milk — and a fine of $20,000
A Kamloops realtor who was caught on camera drinking milk from the carton in a home he was showing to clients will pay a fine of $20,000 for his transgression.
The agreement was reached between realtor Mike Rose and the B.C. Financial Services Authority based on the fact he committed conduct unbecoming under the Real Estate Services Act. The $20,000 fine, along with a further $2,500 to cover BC Financial Services Authority enforcement expenses, must be paid by Jan. 18, 2024.
At the time of the incident on July 16, 2022, Rose worked for Royal LePage Kamloops Realty’s Home & Cottage Realty. He is no longer with that firm, but remains in the real estate field.
Rose, who has been in the real estate business since 1994, was helping potential buyers find a property to purchase. On July 13, 2022, he brought his clients to a Kamloops property for their first viewing. On July 16, 2022, the potential buyers wanted another viewing of the property. Rose arrived first and, after entering the home, looked around for water to drink by opening the refrigerator.
