Man who fell from DTES hotel during attempted arrest dies from injuries
A Vancouver man who had been fighting for his life in hospital after falling from a three-storey rooming hotel in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside during an attempted arrest has now died.
Maximus Hayes, 25, was taken off of life support Sunday, his aunt confirmed to Postmedia.
“He may have made some bad choices, but he was trying hard to turn his life around,” said Fay Brooks.
Hayes, who struggled with a substance use disorder, leaves behind his mother, aunt and three siblings.
“He was an intelligent, sweet, soft-spoken young man who adored his younger siblings, and even when he relapsed was determined to get his life back,” said Brooks.
