Suspect arrested in Surrey SkyTrain stabbing
A 29-year-old Burnaby man has been arrested and faces charges in a stabbing aboard SkyTrain last weekend.
The victim and his girlfriend were riding through Surrey at about 1 a.m. on April 15 when he exchanged words with another passenger, who allegedly stabbed him.
The victim was met by paramedics at Surrey Central Station and treated and released from hospital, while a suspect stayed on the train before getting off at King George Station.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police released images and video several days later of a man suspected in the attack in the SkyTrain system earlier in the day. That appeal led to a suspect’s arrest on Friday. He has since been released with conditions not to possess weapons or contact the victim.
His first court appearance is set for June 14 in provincial court in Surrey.
