Three injured after plane hits pickup truck, crashes at Langley airport
A plane crashed while landing at Langley Regional Airport on Tuesday afternoon, leaving three people injured.
According to Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig van Herk, police received several calls just after 3 p.m. reporting a plane had crashed at the airport.
Van Herk said the plane struck a pickup truck that was travelling along 216th Street, which runs north-south along the eastern border of the airport, before crashing.
Langley Township deputy fire chief Russ Jenkins said it appears the plane came down too low over the road. Jenkins said the small craft went through a fence then crashed and caught fire, but the two occupants were able to escape before it was engulfed in flames.
The driver of the truck was also injured in the collision, and a Langley RCMP news release said all three people were taken to hospital, the truck driver by ground ambulance and the others by air.
