Nearly 100 rattlesnakes found under California house

The homeowner was reportedly not alarmed by the snakes but asked to remain anonymous so as not to freak out the neighbours.

A California rescue worker responded to a call from a homeowner reporting snakes under their house – and discovered more than 90 rattlesnakes on the property.

“I got a call from somebody that said they had snakes under their house,” read the Facebook post from Sonoma County Reptile Rescue, captioning two photos of, well, a lot of snakes.

“Three hours and 45 minutes later, this is what I came out with,” the post continued. “What would you do?”

The initial search by reptile rescue worker Al Wolf earlier this month uncovered 59 babies and 22 adults underneath the house, according to The Press Democrat . A return visit netted 11 more rattlers.

“We know they’ll probably be more,” Wolf said. “I’ll go back one more time this month.”

Wolf, who used 24-inch snake tongs for the removal, told the paper he had never seen that many snakes in one house.

The home is located in a rocky area, which attracts rattlesnakes, said Wolf.

The homeowner was reportedly not alarmed by the snakes but asked to remain anonymous so as not to freak out her neighbours.

Wolf did say the majority of the snakes were “fairly mellow in nature” and compared grabbing them to petting a dog.

“Some you go up and pet,” he warned. “Some you can’t.”
