Harry and Meghan too ‘busy’ to spend Christmas with the Queen: Expert
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have so many things on the go, they likely won’t make it to the U.K. to spend Christmas with the Queen, according to a royal expert.
The monarch has had some minor health scares in recent weeks, with doctors instructing her to take a break, forbidding her from travelling to Scotland for the climate conference, and bowing out of this past weekend’s Remembrance Sunday service due to a sprained back.
That, however, isn’t enough for Harry and Meghan, whom a royal expert calls too “busy” with various projects and won’t be attending the Christmas with their grandmum and the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham House for the traditional annual gathering.
During a recent Royally Us podcast , hosts Christina Garibaldi and Christine Ross noted that this year will be a particularly “tough Christmas” for the monarch as this will be Her Majesty’s first Christmas since Philip passed.
But when asked if the entire Royal Family would be able to come together, do the yearly walk to the church for Christmas mass, an expert suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be MIA.
“Harry and Meghan won’t be able to because of their own particular arrangements, because they’re very, very busy with the next project — or the series of projects they’re involved in,” claimed royal author Stewart Pierce.
“But certainly all the family will be coming together to see the Queen at Sandringham, particularly because Philip will no longer be there.”
Pierce could only rave about the Queen, though, saying, “I find her absolutely extraordinary, the way that she continues, and is a great illustration to us all about how to transcend self-pity.”
Up until the couple cut and run to California, Harry had always been close with his grandmother, while Meghan and the Queen seemed to get on as well.
There is still over a month left. It would be the perfect time to feed two birds with one scone: Christmas with the entire Royal Family and introduce them to Lilibet Diana in person. Now, the only question is, can the Sussexes find time in their busy schedules?
