Alleged B.C. thief dies after contacting live wires climbing down power pole

A 39-year-old B.C. man died early Wednesday after climbing onto the roof of a building and apparently making contact with live wires while trying to climb back down to the ground on a power pole.

Officers were told that just before 6 a.m., the man scaled a building then was likely killed instantly when he made contact with live wires and fell to the ground.

The man was facing criminal charges over an Oct. 6 incident when he allegedly impersonated a doctor and stole items from the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.
