Amid heat wave, most Metro Vancouver outdoor pools remain closed
As Metro Vancouver swelters under an early-season heat wave, residents can expect to find little relief in outdoor pools, most of which are still closed for the season.
The heat kicks Saturday and is expected to peak Sunday and Monday when temperatures are expected to hit a high of 33 C in inland areas in Metro Vancouver, said Environment Canada, which has issued a special weather statement for most of the province on Saturday.
Daytime highs will be up to 15 C above seasonal, while overnight lows will be about 5 to 10 C warmer than usual, it said.
The unseasonably hot weather means most of Metro Vancouver’s outdoor pools and facilities have not yet opened for the season.
In Vancouver, outdoor pools remain shuttered.
