Canucks 4, Maple Leafs 1: Vancouver pulls off big hits, frantic action, excellent goaltending
Games that mean nothing for a team on a death march to the end of the season can easily be a bore.
Saturday’s tilt at Rogers Arena between the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs wasn’t.
The Leafs are one of the best teams in the league and the Canucks are not.
That didn’t matter, as the Canucks won a game filled with big hits, big cheers, frantic action, excellent goaltending and some very nice goals.
Ironically it was ex-Canuck Luke Schenn who set the tone early, throwing a thumping check on J.T. Miller in the neutral zone. But the Canucks more than met the challenge. Tyler Myers delivered a huge hit of his own, stood up for himself in a fight and the game was off to the races.
