Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet is heading back to TV
It seems Rick Tocchet just missed TV punditry too much.
Tocchet’s last appearance was Jan. 18, four days before the announcement he would be the Canucks’ new head coach.
At the time, he said he hadn’t yet signed a contract.
Tocchet’s vibrant personality has been obvious from the day he took over as the Canucks’ bench boss and you can see why he’s had success as a broadcaster.
It’s also not unusual for employed NHL coaches or players to moonlight as analysts in the playoffs. Detroit head coach Derek Lalonde has been a positive addition to Sportsnet’s Stanley Cup coverage, for instance.
Tocchet will appear on Saturday’s and Sunday’s TNT broadcasts, working in the main studio with host Liam McHugh and analysts Anson Carter and Paul Bissonette.
