Coquitlam Little League treasurer charged after $150,000 goes missing
A 65-year-old Coquitlam woman has been charged with fraud after the local Little League discovered that more than $150,000 was missing from its bank account.
The investigation was launched in August 2020 after Coquitlam Little League notified the RCMP.
On Wednesday, Terri Michael, who had been the league’s treasurer since 2014, was charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and one of theft over $5,000. She has been released until her next court appearance.
Police did not give details about how long the alleged fraud went on or how it was concealed.
However, the league said back in 2020 that the discovery came just as it was getting ready to refund fees to over 700 members because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
