Health Canada recalls Indigo-branded mugs, houseware items due to potential mould

Health Canada has issued a recall of several types of mugs and houseware products sold at Indigo due to potential mould.

The federal agency listed 33 Indigo-branded items, including mug ornaments, charger plates, a pitcher and a cookie jar, along with their UPC codes located at the bottom of the item.

Anyone who bought the products are urged to stop using them immediately and return the products to Indigo for a refund.

The items may have been subject to humid conditions, said Health Canada in an alert posted Tuesday.

“As a result, mould may be present under the glazed surface of the products,” it said. “Mould ingestion may pose a risk of gastrointestinal symptoms and infections in consumers with compromised immune systems.”
