High court justice Russell Brown under investigation after altercation at Arizona resort
This country’s judicial watchdog is investigating accusations that Supreme Court of Canada Justice Russell Brown engaged in obnoxious, drunken conduct in Arizona that ended in an altercation, Postmedia has learned.
In a Jan. 29 complaint to the Canadian Judicial Council, Jon Crump alleged Brown pestered him and his friends at a high-end Scottsdale resort. He elaborated in an interview with Postmedia that fists flew.
Brown “harassed my friends (and) spoke about how important he was,” said the 31-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran, now a Philadelphia mortgage adviser.
Appointed in 2015 by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Brown has been on leave from the high bench since Feb. 1, the court acknowledged Tuesday without elaborating.
