One person dead after Hwy. 99 crash in Richmond
One person is dead after a crash on Highway 99 in Richmond Tuesday.
The crash shut down the highway’s southbound lanes and some of its northbound lanes temporarily, causing backups on the route. As of 10 a.m., two southbound lanes remained closed, with traffic squeezing through the right lane. It is not known when the highway will fully reopen.
DriveBC warned drivers to expect delays in the area in both directions due to congestion.
The B.C. Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation. “At this point in the investigation there is no indication of any criminality as a contributing factor,” it said in a statement.
