Traffic alert: Snowy, slushy conditions expected in Metro Vancouver
B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation is warning drivers to expect snowy, slushy conditions as a winter weather system moves into the Lower Mainland Tuesday night.
Snow flurries are possible tonight and Wednesday, and more is in the forecast on the weekend.
Ministry contractors will be on the ready to plow, sand and salt roads as needed, and will keep an eye specifically on the Port Mann and Alex Fraser bridges in case snow accumulates on the overhead cables.
Drivers are advised not to travel if poor weather conditions unless it’s absolutely necessary, and should prepare for delays and longer commutes. They’re also asked to make space for maintenance crews and to move aside when a vehicle with an amber light approaches.
