Unearthing a piece of Hotel Vancouver history, buried in the forest

Antique bottle digger Christian Laub has built up a following on Instagram in his never-ending quest to find cool collectibles buried in the ground.

He gets all sorts of tips from people, so when Julien Hicks messaged him about a long-abandoned old car in the forest by UBC, he was intrigued.

“He had found a couple of 1915 B.C. Brewery beer bottles in proximity to that car,” Laub relates.

“I knew there was a very good chance that there could be more stuff where he found those B.C. Brewery bottles.”

So on Dec. 30, Laub and Hicks went out looking for the abandoned car. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find it. But nearby, they found something else.
