Vancouver police release photo of suspect in DTES homicide
Vancouver police have released a photo of a suspect in the murder of a Downtown Eastside man, who was found badly burned last month during a suspicious fire.
VPD spokesperson Const, Tania Visintin said police have been unable to provide details of the investigation, but now they are releasing more information because “important evidence” has been secured.
The victim, 34-year-old Jeff Jeanty, was discovered shortly after midnight on Jan 3, when Vancouver Fire Rescue Services responded to a suspicious outdoor fire near Powell Street and Raymur Avenue, according to a VPD news release Friday.
Visintin said homicide investigators took over the case and have spent more than a month collecting evidence, identifying suspects, and analyzing DNA to identify the victim.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect captured on camera in the Downtown Eastside around the time of the murder.
