Vancouver still most expensive city in Canada for renters, Burnaby 4th priciest: Report
Vancouver continues to be the most expensive city in Canada for renters, followed closely by Burnaby, according to a national rent report.
The report, by Rentals.ca and Urbanation and released Friday, found Vancouver again tops the list of 35 cities for average monthly rent.
In March, average monthly rent in the city for a one-bedroom home was up 17.3 per cent compared with the same month last year, at $2,743. The average monthly rent for a two-bedroom was up 21.5 per cent to $3,653, according to the report.
Elsewhere in Metro Vancouver, Burnaby came in fourth on the list for average monthly rent in March for a one-bedroom home at $2,259, up 14.9 per cent. It was third for average monthly rent for a two-bedroom at $3,139, up 25.6 per cent.
The report says Victoria was 11th on the list of 35 cities for average monthly rent in March for a one-bedroom home at $2,006 and ninth for an average monthly rent for a two-bedroom at $2,544. Year-over-year, that figure was up 7.9 per cent.
