Vaughn Palmer: Eby discloses months-long forensic audit of B.C. Housing
VICTORIA — Premier David Eby disclosed this week that, just before he stepped down to run for the NDP leadership, he ordered a full-blown forensic audit of troubled B.C. Housing.
That is the Crown corporation with prime responsibility for the NDP government’s ambitious, multi-billion-dollar social housing program.
The broad-based audit covers NDP’s five years in office as well as the last two years under the B.C. Liberals.
The terms of reference, released Thursday, include ensuring that B.C. Housing’s $2 billion annual budget is actually spent on government-backed housing.
Auditor Ernst & Young is also directed to quantify any financial losses.
