Vaughn Palmer: Eby pats self on back, excuses his evasions on B.C. Housing
VICTORIA — When David Eby fired the entire board of B.C. Housing last summer, he covered up his real reason for doing it.
“The changes in the board are not related to any sort of wrongdoing,’ he told Katie DeRosa of Postmedia News at the time. “It is just a change in direction and priority.”
Eby portrayed the timing of the announcement — 6:30 p.m. on a Friday — as an act of mercy “for volunteers from the community who came in and assisted government in good faith. “It is not happy news when we have to changeover board members.”
Still, he bristled at the suggestion that the board members were fired, insisting they were only “pushed out for different members.”
So said then housing minister Eby last July 8 after sending the firing squad into the boardroom at B.C. Housing.
