Maple Leafs sign Kyle Clifford and Carl Dahlström to contract extensions
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed a couple of depth players — forward Kyle Clifford and defencemen Carl Dahlström — to contract extensions on Wednesday.
Clifford gets a two-year deal that carries an average annual value of $762,500 (U.S.) through the 2023-24 season. Dahlström got a a one-year, two-way contract extension worth $750,000 at the NHL level.
Clifford, 31, has lately been mostly a healthy scratch with the Leafs, and has spent time with the Marlies but provides a rugged, physical presence when he is in the lineup. He has two assists in 10 games with the Leafs this season. Clifford is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with Los Angeles in both 2012 and 2014.
Dahlström, 27, has skated in one game with the Maple Leafs while recording 13 assists in 36 games with the Marlies this season.
