$1.4B gold-and-silver mine to start construction in B.C., one of few metals mines in a decade

Artemis Gold expects to begin construction in just weeks at its Blackwater gold-and-silver mine in north central B.C., a phased, $1.4 billion project that is the first major open pit mine scheduled to begin operating in a decade in B.C.

The mine was given a B.C. permit to operate last week, the final step needed before major construction could start on a project that took nearly a decade to move through the provincial and federal environmental approval process. The first phase of the project, at a cost of about $800 million, will see production start in the second half of 2024.
