Carson Briere suspended following wheelchair incident
Carson Briere has been suspended again.
The son of interim Philadelphia Flyers general manager and former NHL star Daniel Briere was suspended late Wednesday by Mercyhurst University following a viral video that showed Briere pushing an unoccupied wheelchair down a flight of stairs while partying at a pub on Saturday.
The wheelchair’s owner had been carried downstairs to use the restrooms since there weren’t any on the top floor of the Erie, PA, bar.
Briere and two other hockey players at the school were placed on interim suspension, the school’s athletics department said in a statement.
“After conducting an initial investigation into the incidents depicted on social media, the Mercyhurst athletics department has determined that three individuals in the video are student-athletes,” the statement said.
