Danielle Bretton has a taste for adventure and travel
In 2010 I went to India with my sister as it was a pact we made when I had breast cancer. We both loved Indian food and yoga and I did Bollywood dancing. She is a nurse and helped me a lot the previous year and I wanted to thank her for everything.
We did an Intrepid tour to the “Golden Triangle” (Delhi, Agra, Varanasi), and I also put together other places and an itinerary using an agent in India.
We did laughter yoga on the beach in Mumbai, went to the Girl Guide World Centre in Pune (she was a girl scout leader), did a cooking course at a gentleman’s house in Udaipur (I learned the art of making chai and crushing spices for curries), got chased by some cows on the way home, and stayed at the Taj Lake Palace, the mysterious and beautiful hotel in the middle of Lake Pichola.
We stayed at a tented camp at the Pushkar Camel Fair, and watched a Bollywood movie at the famous Raj Mandir cinema in Jaipur.
We joined a group in Delhi and our guide, Pradeep from Intrepid, took us to serve lunch at a Langar, a soup kitchen at a Sikh gudawara. I used eight-months of Hindi classes to take us by trains down to Bandhavgarh in search of the elusive tiger (none seen, unfortunately).
